Average Reading Time: 2-5 mins
Updated on 20 April 2024
This post contains some gems that I have learnt over the years. As an aspiring lawyer, I know I have more to learn, and the learning never stops but below are some of my favourites so far.
In no particular order:
The NATO Phonetic Alphabet
“Did you say ‘S’ or ‘F’ ?”
Learning the NATO phonetic alphabet (or having it nearby for easy reference) has help me clarify any uncertainty when it comes to spelling words over the phone.
At times, I will use a modified version. For example: instead of saying ‘Sierra’ for the letter ‘S’, I say ‘Sugar’ for ‘S’ because when I say Sierra, some people hear Ciara.
Time Record As You Go (TRAYG)
It is easy said than done, especially when I have urgent things to do. Nevertheless, time recording as I go ensures I remember to record the time spent as soon as the work has been completed.
Lunch Breaks
Lunch breaks are necessary. If I have my lunch break at my desk, it does not feel like an actually break from work. There is a temptation to open emails (and reply). I have found eating lunch at my desk should be the exception, not the rule.
Folding a letter
This is a gem I am still learning how to do -neatly fold a letter for a C5 envelope with a window at the first try! Do not ask me about DL (110 mm x 220 mm) envelopes. There must be a way!
Let me know your thoughts!
Do you take your lunch break?
Are you a pro at folding letters for envelopes ?
